For six years, Story Shuffle was a regularly organized, live recording of themed stories. Now the best of these stories are being rereleased as a weekly podcast. From 4-5pm Sunday, July 23, 2017, we'll record live to close the podcast. Join us.
Without partners to share life with, our experiences would be far less meaningful. On Episode 14 of Story Shuffle, we explore experiences shared with partners. First, Carolyn Beeler will tell a story about losing time with her brother to his girlfriend. Then Yael Borofsky and Frank Berry will tell a story together — as storytelling partners — about the scars they share.
Are you afraid of the dark? On Episode 13 of Story Shuffle, we’ll share some stories about darkness and all the different feelings it can conjure up for people. First, Sylvester Mobley tells us about what darkness feels like for an Iraq war veteran. Then, Brian James Kirk shares a story about an interaction with a Tennessee park ranger in total darkness.
We all have an instinct to do some vengeful things. On this episode of Story Shuffle, our storytellers share about the times they experienced revenge. First, Lindsey McNeil tells us about when she found revenge on Mischief Night. Then, Brady Dale will tell the story of the time he was hit by a car — and he probably deserved it.
Visitors aren’t always welcome. In this episode, we’ll hear from two storytellers who were visited by some unwanted guests. First, Melissa Weigel tells us about a guest of the animal variety who entered her home when she least expected it. Then, Dan Papa will deliver a tale about the time he was robbed while wearing nothing but a towel.
Lessons come fast and cheap in childhood. We have two tales of Growing Up in this episode of Story Shuffle, the weekly, first-draft storytelling podcast. First hear storyteller and columnist R. Eric Thomas talk about snitching as a kid. Then hear social services worker and writer Patrick McNeil remember a passed loved one.
