For six years, Story Shuffle was a regularly organized, live recording of themed stories. In 2017, we closed the project with a podcast. The project is done; Enjoy our archives!

Today we close out the final episode of the weekly Story Shuffle podcast, a special one-hour, live-recording at the fifth annual Philadelphia Podcast Festival. Fittingly enough, we’re going out with the theme of Closure, featuring two of our favorite storytellers: reporter and columnist Annette John-Hall, fresh off her ‘Cosby Unraveled’ podcast, and writer and journalist Juliana Reyes. Joined by hosts Christopher Wink and Michaela Winberg, all share their stories in front of a live studio audience.
Sometimes, love feels a lot like some of our favorite things. In this episode of Story Shuffle, two storytellers will share the parallels they’ve drawn between love and other objects. First, Christopher Wink will compare love with Philly’s favorite summertime dessert: water ice. Then Adam Teterus will explain why the song he shared with his first love might not have been quite appropriate.
For those of you in Philadelphia on Sunday, July 23 (4-5pm), you can join us to hear the final recording of the weekly Story Shuffle podcast. We’ll be part of the fifth annual Philly Podcast Festival.
We’ll be at Kitchen Table Gallery in Kensington, 1853 North Howard Street. RSVP on Facebook here.
There are moments in life that seem more important than the rest. Often, they’re moments when we gain a new understanding of the world around us. Episode 19 of Story Shuffle is all about new wisdom. In this episode, you’ll hear Mjumbe Poe share some insight he gained about race. Then, Christopher Wink will tell us about the time he first understood civic pride.
As natural as love is, it can also be as complicated as anything. The third episode of weekly first-draft storytelling podcast Story Shuffle is “Learning to Love.” First, as recorded at the very first Story Shuffle ever, in May 2010, photographer and urban farmer Neal Santos tells us his coming out story, by looking back at coming to understand as a kid that he was gay. Next, as recorded in 2014, Story Shuffle creator Christopher Wink remembers a trip to Italy for what might have become love.
In lieu of an independent Story Shuffle this month, I encouraged friends to join this month’s “Tell Me a Story” a monthly curated storytelling event organized by Hillary Rea. The theme was Offline. I told a hitchhiking story, tightened from a version I told at a past Story Shuffle in 2011. So this was the second time I told it. Find it below.
